Jessica Sweeney (She/her)

Jessica Sweeney is a youth advocate, social entrepreneur, and community organizer based in North Adams, MA. As Executive Director of ROOTS Teen Center, she brings over ten years of experience supporting young people through creative, youth-led programming. Jessica was ROOTS’ founding director and continues to champion equity, belonging, and empowerment for youth in everything she does.
Jessica was ROOTS’ Founding Executive Director, helping to launch the organization through its initial strategic planning process from 2014–2016 and leading its early development from 2016–2018. After several years growing her consultancy and launching other community-rooted ventures—including the artist collective Common Folk and the inclusive secondhand shop Savvy Hive—Jessica returned to ROOTS in 2024 to support its next chapter of growth and sustainability.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine and Performing Arts with a minor in Arts Management from MCLA, along with professional certifications in nonprofit management (Marlboro College), youth work (BEST Initiative Training Institute), and youth suicide prevention (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention). Her work has been recognized with the Berkshire 25, 40 Under 40, and Under 40 Changemaker awards.
Deeply committed to co-creating spaces where young people are seen, supported, and celebrated, Jessica continues to advocate for youth leadership, creativity, and collective care in all she does.
Kenny RiverA (He/Him)

Kenny Rivera leads efforts to provide impactful programs and support for local youth. With a background as a caseworker, Kenny has experience in providing guidance and support to individuals facing challenging circumstances. His work as a case worker involves assessing needs, creating tailored plans, and offering resources to help clients achieve their goals. This experience translates seamlessly into his role at ROOTS, where he applies his skills in building meaningful relationships with youth, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities for personal growth. During his time with ROOTS, Kenny has worked hard to foster a welcoming, empowering environment where all young people feel a sense of belonging and can thrive and have fun.

Cacey is on leave until they return to school in the Fall of 2025.
Mae Hall (she/her)
Interim Drop In Assistant
Mae Hall is a recent graduate of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, where she cultivated a passion for community building and youth empowerment. With a strong interest in equity and creative education, Mae is now pursuing a career in psychology and youth development. She is committed to creating inclusive spaces where young people feel seen, heard, and supported as they grow into their full potential.
